Madurai, March 16 -- A 22-year-old youth was gored to death and as many as 114 others, including bull tamers and spectators, were injured in four 'Jallikattu' (taming of bulls) events held at four places in Madurai, Tiruchirapalli and Pudukottai districts of Tamil Nadu on Sunday.
Police said the deceased was identified as Mahesh Pandian, a bull tamer hailing from Kachirayiruppu village in Madurai district.
He sustained severe injury on the chest, when a ferocious bull unleashed into the Jallikattu arena gored him, while he attempted to tame it.
He was rushed to the Government Rajaji Hospital, where he succumbed to injury without responding to the treatment.
