Hardoi (UP), Sept. 1 -- A 22-year-old youth accused of kidnapping a minor girl died in police custody in Shahabad area of Hardoi district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here today.
The deceased has been identified as Ravi Rajput (22), who was facing charges of luring and kidnapping a 16-year-old girl. Following his death, his family alleged foul play and accused police personnel, along with the girl's family, of murder.
"A case was registered against Ravi for luring and kidnapping a 16-year-old girl. "The family members of the accused alleged murder after which a case has been lodged against the kin of the girl and a Sub-Inspector has been suspended," Police sources said.
