Dharwad, April 11 -- A 28-year-old Youth Congress leader was brutally hacked to death by unidentified assailants at his residence in Karnataka's Dharwad district, police said on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Fairoz Khan Pathan, a resident of Mehboob Nagar under Dharwad Suburban Police Station limits. According to police, the incident occurred late Friday night when at least four assailants allegedly barged into his house and attacked him with lethal weapons, leading to his death on the spot.
Family members were reportedly not present at the residence at the time of the attack.
Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner N Shashikumar said a case of murder has been registered and a detailed investigation is underway.
