Barabanki, Feb. 2 -- The body of a young woman was found in a vacant plot near a canal in Barabanki on Monday morning, triggering panic in the area.
The incident took place near Gadiya village under the City Kotwali police station limits.
According to police, villagers spotted the body and informed authorities. Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was brutally murdered, with her head crushed using a heavy object. The deceased was wearing jeans and a shirt.
Kotwali Station House Officer Sudhir Kumar Singh said efforts are underway to identify the woman. The crime scene was inspected and evidence was collected.
