Chennai, Feb. 2 -- The World Wetlands day was celebrated on Mondayunder the Tamil Nadu Wetlands Mission (TNWM).
An offiicial release here said, the TN Government is implementing variousinitiatives for the conservation and management of wetlands through theTNWM with a strong emphasis on awareness creation and active publicparticipation.
The World Wetlands Day is observed every year on February 2 to highlightthe importance of wetlands and promote their conservation through awarenessand public participation.
As part of this year celebrations, the event was organised at the Adyar Estuaryin the city where a Nature Walk followed by a Clean-up activity was conductedby the TNWM in coordination with the Chennai Forest Division.
