Bengaluru, April 19 -- Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC President DK Shivakumar on Sunday accused the BJP-led central government of plotting a "political surgical strike" on South India in the name of implementing women's reservation, alleging that the move is aimed at weakening the political representation of southern states.

In a statement, Shivakumar said the condition linking women's reservation to constituency delimitation was "extremely dangerous" and described it as a "conspiracy" to disadvantage states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala that have controlled population growth.
