Baghpat, Feb. 13 -- The semi-nude body of a former village head's daughter-in-law was found in bushes near the Delhi-Shamli-Saharanpur railway line close to Surajpur Mahanwa underpass in Baghpat, police said on Friday.
Police suspect she was strangled to death, and are looking into the angle of sexual assault.
According to family members, the 54-year-old woman had gone to her parental home in the Khekra police station area on February 9. On Wednesday evening, she left for her home but did not reach it.
After searching for her and checking CCTV footage, it was found that she boarded an auto from Khekra Pathshala around 5 pm, reached Baghpat, and then took an e-rickshaw. After that, her whereabouts were unknown.
