Nashik, Feb. 20 -- A pregnant sugarcane worker gave birth in a rickshaw after being stranded in a massive traffic jam in Manmad town of Nashik district.
The woman, identified as Majila Avesh Wadve from Kelipani in Nandurbar district, was travelling with other sugarcane workers when their vehicle was caught in severe congestion on the highway passing through Manmad. As vehicles stood in long queues, she went into labour.
Although a hospital was located nearby, reaching it proved impossible due to the gridlock.
In the critical situation, rickshaw driver Amjad Attar stepped in and shifted the woman and her family into his vehicle in an attempt to reach the hospital. However, the road ahead remained completely blocked.
