Pune, Jan. 16 -- The last-minute alliance between Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, leader of the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), and Sharad Pawar, chief of the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar faction), created political excitement in the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation elections and posed a challenge to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
However, trends available so far suggest that the much-discussed uncle-nephew alliance has failed to make a significant impact. Whether this situation will remain unchanged or the alliance will manage to bridge the gap remains a matter of keen political interest.
