Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, May 8 -- Telangana Labour and Mines Minister Dr G Vivek Venkataswamy on Friday alleged that the previous BRS government deliberately weakened the Pranahita-Chevella project and constructed the Kaleshwaram project only to earn commissions.

The Minister, along with Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, visited the Tummidihatti project area and later spoke to the media after performing Jalaharathi in the Pranahita river.

Vivek Venkataswamy said nearly Rs 1,100 crore had already been spent on the Pranahita-Chevella project and a significant portion of the works had been completed. He stated that the project could have been completed if an additional Rs 25,000 crore had been allocated.
