Washington, Oct. 2 -- White House officials have offered a more favourable and positive view over US President Donald Trump's highly controversial deployment of federal troops to Portland, Oregon, in his bid to battle crime, viewing it as an opportunity in disguise, calling it both a security necessity and a political opportunity ahead of the 2026 midterms.
Officially, the administration insists the mission is aimed at protecting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities targeted by months of demonstrations.
