Thiruvananthapuram, July 3 -- Kerala's request for an additional allocation of wheat, citing the rising number of diabetic patients, and more rice during the Onam festival season has been rejected by the Centre, "reflecting its negative attitude" towards the Left Government in the State, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.

The state had requested an additional quota under the tide-over allocation, seeking 5 kg of rice per ration card for non-priority households at the existing rate of Rs 8.30 per kg, the CM said.

"The state also demanded the reinstatement of the wheat allotment that was being provided under the tide-over quota until two years ago," he said.
