Durgapur, Dec. 12 -- Woman Grandmaster Mary Ann Gomes on Friday scored a vital win against tournament leader P. V. Nandhidhaa of Tamil Nadu at the end of 10th and penultimate round to join in the lead along with Nandhidhaa with 8.5 points each and throwing thetournament for an exciting finish on final day on Saturday.
On the top board Mary from Kolkata showed her end game skill to outwit after 65 moves and joined the lead with 8.5 points with her Tamil Nadu opponent at the end of the 10th round in the prestigious 51st National Women's Chess Championship at the Sidhu Kanhu Stadium.
On the second board, WIM Sristhi Pandey clinched a win over the WFM Shubhi Gupta from UP.
