Kolkata, Feb. 10 -- West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal is scheduled to meet the full bench of the Election Commission of India (ECI) in New Delhi on Tuesday to determine a revised date for publishing the state's final electoral roll, effectively concluding the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
The discussions assume importance in the wake of a Supreme Court directive issued on Monday by a bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, which asked the ECI to give Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) at least one additional week beyond February 14 to complete scrutiny of claims and objections before taking a call on the final voters' list.
