Chennai, Dec. 1 -- With very heavy rains pounding Chennai and neighbouring districts after the Met office issuedan upgraded Red Alert, the Cyclonic Storm Ditwah, which has weakened into a Deep Depression lies practicallystationary at the same region close to the city coast, promising more rains.
In a letest update tonight, Met office said the Deep Depression (Remnant of Cyclonic Storm Ditwah) over westcentraland adjoining areas of southwest Bay of Bengal and North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh coasts remainedpractically stationary during the past six hours and lay centered at 1730 hrs today, over the same region.
It now lay centred about 50 km east of Chennai, 140 km northeast of Puducherry, 160 km north-northeast of Cuddalore.
