Kolkata, Jan. 11 -- An allegation of a violent attack on the convoy of Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari at Chandrakona in West Midnapore, triggered fresh political tension on Saturday night, with the BJP leader staging a sit-in protest inside a police outpost demanding immediate arrests.

According to Adhikari, the incident took place around 8.20-8.30 pm near the Chandrakona Road market area under Garbeta police station limits, when Adhikari was returning to Nandigram after addressing a public meeting in Purulia.

BJP workers had gathered along the route to receive him when, it is alleged, a group of Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers and supporters suddenly blocked the convoy at a crossing.
