Nagpur, Dec. 28 -- A long-billed vulture released earlier this month in Maharashtra's Pench Tiger Reserve has flown nearly 750 kilometres in just 17 days, reaching the Nashik region, forest officials said on Sunday.

The bird, identified as J132, was released on December 11 under a joint vulture conservation programme of the Maharashtra Forest Department and the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS).

According to researchers, the GPS-tagged vulture was last recorded on December 27 at a location around 38 kilometres from the Anjaneri hills near Trimbakeshwar in Nashik district.

During its journey, J132 travelled across several districts, including Nagpur, Wardha, Yavatmal, Hingoli, Washim, Buldhana, Jalna and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, bef...
