Kolkata, Feb. 14 -- A chilling crime has come to light in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Saturday, where a 36-year-old man was allegedly murdered, his body cut into pieces and disposed of in a canal after being summoned on the pretext of submitting documents for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
According to the police, a Booth Level Officer (BLO) and another man have been arrested in connection with the murder that took place in Baduria in North 24 Parganas on Friday night.
Following sustained interrogation and search operations, police recovered dismembered body parts of the victim from a canal on Friday night. The victim's head, however, is still missing.
