Mumbai, Jan. 16 -- Vote counting is currently underway in Maharashtra for the 29 municipal corporations, following polling on Thursday. The EVMs were securely transported to BMC warehouses in Vikhroli and Kandivali ahead of the process.
In the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, around 1,700 candidates are contesting 227 seats. The battle for control of the country's richest civic body is intense between the BJP-led Mahayuti and the Uddhav-Raj Thackeray alliance. On Thursday, voters exercised their franchise for a total of 2,869 seats across 893 wards in 29 municipal bodies.
