Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 15 -- The Viswabrahmana Acharya Samiti has urged political parties in Kerala to ensure fair and proportionate representation for the Viswakarma community in the 2026 Kerala Legislative Assembly elections, warning that it may field its own candidates in constituencies where the community has more than 10,000 voters if sidelining persists.

Pointing out that the Viswakarma community has a population of nearly 40 lakh in the State, Samiti said in a statement that the decision to consider fielding candidates would be taken jointly with other Viswakarma organisations if mainstream political parties failed to address what it termed long-standing political neglect of the community.
