Mumbai, April 6 -- Former Defence Secretary Vijay Singh has reportedly refused to resign as a trustee of the Bai Hirabai Jamsetji Tata Navsari Charitable Institution (BHJTNCI), which is a key Tata Trust after his co-trustee Venu Srinivasan, who held a position on its board, stepped down on Saturday, sources said.
Though Venu Srinivasan publicly cited "other business commitments" as the official reason behind his resignation, sources said that he agreed to step down after a request from the Tata Trust management, after Mehli Mehta challenged the eligibility of trustees Srinivasan and Vijay Singh.
