Bengaluru, Jan. 27 -- The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday petitioned Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, urging him to withhold assent to the Karnataka Hate Speech and Hate Crimes (Prevention) Bill, 2025, and reserve it for the consideration of the President of India under Article 200 of the Constitution.
VHP National Secretary and Social Harmony in-charge Devji Bhai Rawat, along with a delegation, met the Governor at Lok Bhavan and submitted a memorandum expressing serious objections to the proposed legislation.
The Bill, which both Houses of the State Legislature passed in December amid strong opposition from the BJP and JD(S), is currently awaiting the Governor's assent to become law.
