Bengaluru, Feb. 14 -- Veteran Kannada filmmaker Joe Simon passed away on Friday after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest at 80 years of age. He experienced uneasiness during an executive committee meeting at the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and was rushed to Mallige Hospital, where he could not be saved, according to reports.

Following the news of his demise, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar expressed his condolences, calling Simon's death an "irreparable loss" to the Kannada film industry.
