Kolkata, Nov. 5 -- A unique gathering of veteran adventurers is set to take place in Bankura, where the first generation of rock climbers once carved the trails of the Susunia Hills, marking the birth of rock climbing in eastern India. The event - the first of its kind - will celebrate "60 Years of Rock Climbing in West Bengal" from November 6 to 9, revisiting the golden legacy of the sport that began in the mid-1960s.

Though tiny in size and only 1,442 ft or 440 mts in height, the Susunia Hills hold an iconic place in India's mountaineering history.
