Caracas/Washington, Nov. 15 -- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has called on the people of the US to unite with Venezuela "for the peace of the Americas," amid escalating tensions following the deployment of US warships to the Caribbean.
Maduro has continued to insist that his government seeks peace, and refused to comment on the possible missile threats of Washington, adding that his administration's sole focus was on the peaceful governance of his country and ensuring the welfare of his people, indirectly dismissing the US' allegations of Venezuelan aggression.
