Latehar, Feb. 1 -- Jharkhand Police busted an illegal cattle trafficking operation and rescued 20 bovine animals packed into two pickup vans during a vehicle checking drive on NH-75 on Sunday. Six persons were arrested.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Manika police station in-charge Prabhat Kumar Das launched a checking campaign near a petrol pump at Namudag village.
During the operation, two pickup vans bearing registration numbers JH-03 AP 9759 and JH-19 F 2465 were intercepted while coming from the Satbarwa side. Upon inspection, 10 bovine animals were found crammed in each vehicle and being transported in a cruel manner.
