Varanasi, April 15 -- Special Court (MP/MLA) Judge Yajuvendra Vikram Singh on Wednesday acquitted all six accused in the nearly 24-year-old attempt to murder case lodged by former MP Dhananjay Singh, granting them the benefit of the doubt.
Dhananjay Singh had alleged that on October 4, 2002, while returning from Varanasi to Jaunpur, he was attacked with sophisticated weapons near Taksal Cinema Hall in Nadesar. Dhananjay Singh, his driver, gunner, and others were injured in the attack. The attackers fled the scene.
Gosaiganj SP MLA Abhay Singh, Sandeep Singh, Sanjay Singh, Vineet Singh (MLC), Vinod Singh, and Satendra Singh were named as accused in the case.
