Mumbai, Dec. 5 -- A family of monkeys regularly visiting a residential flat in Powai has sparked serious concerns regarding the diminishing forest cover in Mumbai.

Environmental activist Anamika Sharma, a resident of Powai Cosmopolitan Housing Society, frequently hosts three monkeys in her home.

The group, comprising two adults and a baby she has named Nandini, Nandgram and Nandu, enters her flat, spends time exploring, accepts food and departs peacefully. Sharma interprets these visits not as mere intrusion but as a direct consequence of shrinking natural habitats. She states the animals are forced into human areas because their own forests are being encroached upon and are disappearing.
