Washington/Moscow, Sept. 29 -- US Vice President JD Vance on Sunday called on Moscow to "wake up and accept reality," declaring that Russia had long lost its war in Ukraine and has little to show for the vast human and economic costs, reports Politico.

"The Russian economy is in a shambles. The Russians are not gaining much on the battlefield," Vance told Fox News.

"It's clearly time for them to come to the table and actually talk seriously about peace." He added that Moscow continues to "kill a lot of people and lose a lot of people" while gaining little by it.

His remarks came a week after President Donald Trump abruptly changed tone on the conflict, reversing earlier claims that Ukraine could not win.
