Washington, Sept. 9 -- US President Donald Trump has filed a $20 billion defamation lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal, accusing the paper of fabricating claims that he wrote a lewd note for Jeffrey Epstein's 50th birthday in 2003.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Miami on Monday, represents one of Trump's most aggressive legal offensives against the media. In a 18-page filing, his lawyers accused the Journal and its parent company Dow Jones of "glaring failures in journalistic ethics" and asserted that "no authentic letter or drawing exists."At the centre of the dispute is a "birthday book" compiled for Epstein by Ghislaine Maxwell, which Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released last week, reports CNN.
