Hyderabad, Jan. 5 -- The CPI(M) on Monday organised a protest demonstration at RTC Crossroads here, condemning the US forces for detaining Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, terming it a grave attack on Venezuela's sovereignty and an international crime.

Addressing the protest, CPI(M) state secretary John Wesley said attacking a country's military headquarters and handcuffing the presidential couple while they were asleep was a heinous act that exposed American arrogance.

He alleged that US President Donald Trump was seeking to plunder Venezuela's oil resources and assert unilateral global dominance.
