Bhubaneswar, March 11 -- The Odisha Legislative Assembly witnessed chaotic scenes on Wednesday as Opposition members raised concerns over the safety and security of people's representatives and stalled proceedings during Zero Hour. The uproar forced Speaker Surama Padhy to adjourn the House for 10 minutes.

The tense situation followed a sharp exchange of words between members of the Opposition parties-Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Indian National Congress-and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Opposition legislators demanded that the Speaker issue a ruling directing the government to ensure the safety of people's representatives and maintain law and order in the state.
