Sitapur, Feb. 2 -- In a daring robbery, armed criminals allegedly looted jewellery worth around Rs 10 lakh from a jeweller in the Sakran police station area, police said today.
The incident took place near Hasanapur turn, where two bike-borne assailants attacked the victim, threw chilli powder into his eyes and fled with a bag full of jewellery at gunpoint.
The victim, Monu, a resident of Patna village in the Biswan area, runs a shop named Hari Om Jewellers and Readymade Centre at Maholiya Kalan crossing in Sakran. On Saturday night, after closing his shop, he was returning home on his motorcycle carrying a bag containing jewellery.
