Shahjahanpur, March 4 -- A woman was allegedly murdered by her husband, who also threw acid on her partner, in a shocking incident on the day of Holi in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur district.
According to police, the accused, identified as Manmohan Pandey, had been in the middle of divorce proceedings with his wife Aarti (31) for the past two years. The couple had been living separately, and for the last six months Aarti had reportedly been staying in a rented house with her partner, Brijdeep (35), in a live-in relationship.
The incident took place around 6 am in the Chowk Kotwali area, about 4 km from the district headquarters. Police said Manmohan arrived at Aarti's residence under the pretext of playing Holi and was wearing a mask.
