Prayagraj, Jan. 14 -- A fire broke out at the Swami Ram Sewak camp reportedly due to a lit oil lamp (diya) during the Prayagraj Magh Mela today evening.
Thick smoke and towering flames were visible from as far as 5 kilometers away. The exact cause of the fire was initially unknown.
The blaze started on the Lower Marg in Sector 4 and rapidly spread to more than 10 nearby camps. Fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and began spraying water to control the fire. The entire area was sealed to prevent the flames from spreading further. Police personnel and saints present at the site immediately started rescue operations.
