Shahjahanpur, Feb. 3 -- A 47-year-old civil engineer was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a hotel room in Shahjahanpur district today morning, police said.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Devendra Kumar, the deceased has been identified as Gaurav Saxena, a resident of Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. His in-laws live in Shahjahanpur.
Police said Saxena had checked into the hotel on Sunday and had been staying alone since then. Hotel staff became suspicious in the morning when there was no response from the room and no food orders were placed. The room was opened using a master key, and Saxena was found unconscious on the bed. Several liquor bottles were recovered from the room.
