Varanasi, May 4 -- Chanchal Devnani, a research scholar from the Department of Zoology at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), secured a top 10 poster position at the International Human Genome Meeting 2026 held in Athens, Greece, last month.
A total of 230 posters were presented at the conference, which ran from April 21 to 24, 2026.
Working under the guidance of geneticist Prof. Gyaneshwar Choubey, Chanchal presented research on the genetic history and population structure of the Sindhi community. Using genome-wide data, she studied gene diversity, the timing of past admixture, and the population history of Sindhis. This research is linked to the story of migration and evolution across Eurasia (Europe-Asia).
