Jaunpur, Sept. 15 -- A bus carrying 50 pilgrims from Chhattisgarh crashed into the rear of a trailer truck on the Varanasi-Lucknow highway near Sihipur in the Line Bazar police station area this morning.
The accident claimed the lives of four people, including the driver, and left nine others critically injured.
According to Superintendent of Police Dr. Kaustubh, the bus was attempting to overtake when the driver lost control and rammed into the trailer from behind. The impact was so severe that the front cabin of the bus was completely crushed.
Police and local residents rushed to the scene upon receiving the information. They help the local police to shift the injured to the district hospital.
