Mathura, May 7 -- Two criminals, native of Rajasthan, who took a businessman hostage and robbed him in Mathura were killed in an encounter by the police.

Both members of the Babariya gang carried a reward of Rs 50,000 each.

The criminals were identified as Dharamveer alias Lambu (35) and Rajendra alias Pappu (55). Both were originally from Alwar, Rajasthan and they along with five accomplices, had robbed the home of businessman Ajay Agarwal.

Accirding to police, on the night of April 23, they entered Ajay Agarwal's house through the roof. They tied Ajay Agarwal, his father, wife, and their 6-year-old daughter with ropes. They took the locker keys at gunpoint and then plundered the house for approximately two and a half hours.
