Jaunpur, Jan. 23 -- A young man allegedly amputated his own foot in an attempt to falsely claim disability benefits for admission to an MBBS course in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur district, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred in Khalilpur village under the Line Bazar police station area and left the police and local administration stunned.
According to Superintendent of Police Dr. Kaustubh, the youth, identified as Suraj Bhaskar, initially informed the police that unknown miscreants had entered his under-construction house late at night on Wednesday, brutally assaulted him, rendered him unconscious, and chopped off his foot before fleeing with it.
