Durgapur, Dec. 8 -- Unfancide Shubhi Gupta from Uttar Pradesh on Monday caused a flutter in the Sidhu Kanhu Stadium here forcing WGM Mary Ann Gomes of PSPB to resign at 35 move to lead the board with six perfect points at the end of the sixth round of the 11-round at the 51st National Women's Chess Championship.
At the end of the 6th Round, 5th seed Shubhi Gupta emerged as the sole leader with a full score of 6 points. She is followed by P V Nandhidaa (defending champion) of Tamilnadu with 5.5 points.
Shubhi Gupta on her 25th move, executed a marvelous tactical manoeuvre with her Rook and subsequently sacrificed it on the 35th move forcing WGM Mary An Gomes to resign.
