Varanasi, Feb. 17 -- The Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (UP Board) High School and Intermediate examinations began on Tuesday.

The examinations are being conducted in two shifts. The first shift will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., and the second shift from 2:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Electronic devices of any kind are strictly prohibited. A total of 118 examination centers have been set up in the Varanasi district. Over 5.2 million students are appearing in the UP Board exams in the state in which 2.7 million will appear for 10th Board and 2.4 million for 12th Board. Varanasi District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar said that zonal and static magistrates have been deployed at each examination center.
