Pune, April 2 -- Widespread crop damage has been reported across Maharashtra following unseasonal rains accompanied by strong winds and hailstorm, with over 1.22 lakh hectares (more than 3.05 lakh acres) of agricultural land affected, Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharne said after reviewing the situation.
He assured that damage assessments would be completed promptly and financial assistance would be extended to affected farmers at the earliest.
The minister on Thursday, April 2, visited Wadgaon Dal in Bhor taluka of Pune district to conduct an on-ground inspection of the affected areas.
