Nizamabad, Feb. 20 -- Uma Rani on Friday assumed charge as the Mayor of the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation at a ceremony attended by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud and state Minister Ponnam Prabhakar as chief guests.
Ponnam Prabhakar congratulated the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor Salma Tahseen, and thanked the people for supporting the Congress in the recent local body elections across 116 municipalities and seven corporations.
He said the state cabinet would meet within 40 days to take key decisions aimed at improving employment opportunities and accelerating development in urban local bodies.
