Aizawl, Jan. 29 -- The United Legislature Party (ULP), an alliance of the Mizo National Front (MNF) and the Congress, moved a step closer to forming the executive committee in the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) on Wednesday with the election of senior Congress leader C. Lalmuanthanga as Council Chairman.
The election was held during a sitting of the LADC at Lawngtlai, chaired by Protem Chairman C. Hrangthianga. Lalmuanthanga secured a comfortable victory over Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) nominee T. Lalchhuanvawra, polling 15 votes against his rival's seven, while one vote was declared invalid.
