London/New Delhi, March 6 -- British MP Bob Blackman has lambasted the government of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer over External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar being heckled by Khalistani elements in London yesterday, and termed it an affront to democracy.

Raising the issue in the British Parliament, Blackman, Conservative MP, said in a statement:

"Yesterday, Pro-Khalistan thugs attempted to attack the External Affairs Minister from India, Shri Jaishankar.

"This is against the Geneva Convention, and it appears that the police and the security forces failed to ensure that he was made safe.

"This is an affront to democracy, it's an affront to our friends and allies in India; and we need to make sure that it doesn't happen again.
