Mumbai, Jan. 15 -- Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday demanded the immediate resignation of the Maharashtra State Election Commissioner, alleging large-scale irregularities during the ongoing municipal corporation elections in the state.

Speaking to reporters after casting his vote with family members in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, Thackeray said complaints had emerged from several areas that the voting mark on voters' fingers was getting erased. He pointed out that while indelible ink was traditionally used earlier, the Election Commission had this time opted for a marker, a decision he said was taken abruptly without consulting political parties.
