New Delhi, July 24 -- The Supreme Court today heard the Centre defend the controversial film Udaipur Files, stating that it focuses on a specific crime and does not vilify any community.
A Bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi was hearing pleas for and against the film's release.
Representing the Central government, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta argued that the movie depicts the crime of Kanhaiya Lal's murder in Udaipur and is not targeted at any community.
"These accused are the persons who themselves posted on Facebook that they cut his throat. The film is crime-focused and not community-targeted. Dialogues are generic. Terrorism references are context specific. Themes do not threaten any foreign relations," ...
