Mumbai, Feb. 15 -- Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday launched a sharp attack over the India-Pakistan group-stage fixture in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, alleging that the high-voltage encounter fuels large-scale betting and gambling operations.
He further claimed that funds generated through such activities ultimately reach Pakistan and that certain local brokers, including some politicians associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), gain from it.
Addressing a press conference, Raut objected to India participating in matches against Pakistan in international tournaments.
He said people of the country do not support such contests. According to him, the match should not be viewed as a contest between two cricket teams.
