Chandrapur, Oct. 17 -- The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has approved the relocation of two tigresses from the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district to the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve (STR), a forest official confirmed today.
The move aims to address the imbalance in STR's tiger population. While the reserve currently has three confirmed resident male tigers, there are no females. Wildlife officials believe introducing tigresses will help establish a breeding population and stabilize the sex ratio.
